# Firmware upload not updating keymaps (but can update led effects)

It has probably to do with crysalis storing the layout in eeprom which needs to be wiped using chrysalis for a custom layout to work or so. Related topic is here [Stuck with old custom layout](https://community.keyboard.io/t/stuck-with-old-custom-layout/3504/2)
