Struggling with arrow keys, any advice?

Another of the problems I have is to often press Fn instead of Shift, because I have some symbols in the Fn layer (e.g { } [ ] \ )and some others in shifted keys

SpaceCadet works really well for me. Brackets, braces, and parens are assigned to the Ctrl, Cmd, etc. keys. Tap for a bracket, hold for Ctrl, etc.
