Added SpaceCadet but can't seem to get it working

So I just got my Model01 and boy is it awesome! As one of the first things to do, I decided to try and add SpaceCadet. I did this by adding

and adding &SpaceCadet to the Kaleidoscope.use -call. This compiles just fine, but nothing happens when I hit either of the shift keys :frowning: In which way am I being stupid here?

couple of things could be an issue with the flasing are you getting any errors when you try and flash.

could you upload your sketch so we can figure it out

Sure. No errors, and I tested that the flashing works by temporarily making 1 be 2 :slight_smile:

I built and tested this and SpaceCadet worked as expected for me.
I have no idea why this isn’t working for you I will defer to someone who has a better idea of what this could be.

You may need to explicitly set the SpaceCadet map; try putting this in your setup(), after the Kaleidoscope.use().

Updating the SpaceCadet plugin, or doing as @james.nvc suggested should both fix the issue, if we’re indeed dealing with the same one.

Ah, adding those extra bits did fix it, thank you!
Also - how do I update the plugin? I’m using windows 10 and installed the arduino ide via windows store. Do I manually download the latest bits and replace them in where ever the IDE currently stores them?

The issue here is that the version of SpaceCadet that is in the Arduino IDE isn’t the most up to date one. There’s a whole bunch of fixes for it in the github repo that haven’t yet been incorporated in the version included by the IDE.

My suggestion is to clone the github repo to the same folder that Arduino downloads it to, and use that instead. Clunky and complicated, but it works.

It’ll be fixed whenever there’s a a repull of the github sources into Arduino.
