Is the absoulte mouse/pointer HID protocol just one way or would it be possible for the keyboard to retrieve information like the absolute mouse position from the host?
It is, as far as I know, not possible to get that data from the host with HID.

When I was in college, a friend was asking for help with a design problem in a basic electrical engineering class. The assignment was to design a battery tester, with no particular guidance specified. As a group of us were mulling over the question, another friend walked into the room, and the question was repeated. He immediately suggested a simple answer: “A hammer.” When asked to elaborate, he described how to use it: “Strike the battery repeatedly with the hammer until it leaks. The battery is dead.”
So, like my friend Albert, I have an answer for you, but it’s not very useful…
