"A new network interface has been detected"

On MacOS Mojave 10.14.5, every time I plug in the keyboard, I get a system notification “A new network interface has been detected : The “Model 01” network interface has not been set up. To set up this interface, use Network Preferences.”

Network Preferences doesn’t show such a network.

The keyboard works fine after dismissing the dialog, but I’d rather not have to see this every time.

What should I do?

This is quite interesting, there’s no networking code in the firmware. It does have an USB serial interface, which OSX may assume is an USB modem. I have no idea how to talk OSX out of that assumption, I’m afraid.

Whatever the solution is, I’m reasonably sure it has to do with USB serial.
