I’m kind of old school and still default to installed software versus web tools. Opened the Chrysalis app today and it informed me there was a firmware update to 10.4, which would replace my .96 version on the Model 100, but the date on the update was 7/22. The web version of the software is still in the .9* area, so wanted to see if there was a way to align things, or perhaps have the actual app re-direct you to the web portal instead?
Still loving my Model 100, so thanks again Jesse and team for all the hard work!
Hi Heather, the web version of Chrysalis is newer and more stable than the installable app. The goal was to move Chrysalis to the web only. They were both being worked on in 1993 and when the web version was debugged and stable, development of the app ceased. I think the app went up to 13.6 and it probably still has bugs that have since been fixed in the web version.
https://chrysalis.keyboard.io/ in your browser will always get you to the latest Chrysalis which was last updated on 2025-09-08.
Oooh I didn’t know about this extension (and also stayed on the non-web Chrysalis), thank you! Does it work when Firefox runs from a snap? (That’s how Ubuntu Linux ships it.)
The snap packaging of Firefox and Chromium on Ubuntu Linux makes it difficult to access arbitrary locations on the filesystem (on purpose, so a compromised browser can’t read your SSH keys, for example). I’ve tried Chrysalis with Chromium, but it doesn’t work, the browser doesn’t see any device.
From a quick web search, there seems to be a way to authorise a snap to access to given files.
