Firmware question: can you change key functions depending on computer OS?

Does anyone know of a way to change the function of a key based on the user’s operating system? I fairly frequently use both a Mac and Linux, and I’d really like the super and ctrl keys to swap based on the operating system. There are other adjustments I’d make too, but that’s the big one, since the super key on Mac (cmd) is basically equivalent to the ctrl key on both Windows and Linux.

I suspect that if this is even possible, it would require changing the firmware, which I’m open to. I’m just not sure if it’s even possible, as I haven’t been able to find an example of anyone doing this.

I suppose I could do this with a layer, but on the Atreus, I hate to dedicate a whole key to swapping OS layouts. Plus it’s hard to know which layer you’re on with no LEDs, I’d prefer if this “just worked”

Unfortunately, OS detection from the keyboard is difficult. If you don’t want to dedicate a key for switching modes, you can use MagicCombo, or Qukeys, or TapDance to do it.
