Wifi Keyboardio

Hi,
Couldn’t find anything about this so sorry if I’m reposting.
Currently considering modding my Keyboardio so the two parts of the keyboard can communicate with wifi instead of an RJ45 connector.
To do that, I found the following:

  1. https://www.amazon.com/Edimax-EW-7811Un-150Mbps-Raspberry-Supports/dp/B003MTTJOY/
  2. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B010NUL1GI/

I assume the wifi dongle will have little to no dependencies.
Only addition required is to provide an interface to have both parts connect via ad-hoc securely.
Any thoughts on how to start? Anyone wanna pitch in?

Cheers,
Aviv.

I wouldn’t expect this to work; the two halves of the Model01 use RJ45 connectors, but don’t communicate via Ethernet.

Thanks for your quick reply
How do you feel about replacing the RJ connectors with these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00VWVDOFO/

I can’t help you there; the hardware is well outside my area of expertise. @jesse?

You’re going to need to do some real work to replace the high-speed I2C connections between the two halves with radios. On top of that, you need to figure out a battery and charging solution for the right hand side. If you go that route, you’ll need to consider what to do about the LEDs. They draw a lot of power.
