After updating firmware, keyboard does not work

Running MacOS 12.6 1, Chrysalis 0.12
I went though the instructions to update firmware on the keyboard, and flash the eprom back to factory. After these steps, I’m not getting any input from the keyboard. I can still connect to the keyboard from Chrysalis.

What can I do to troubleshoot?

Firmware is 0.91+68
Upon plugging in the keyboard, the led key lights up green for a couple seconds, then fades out.

I played with it a bit more, and tried multiple times to flash the firmware. Eventually “it took” and the keyboard seems to be back to normal again. Whew, that was several nervous hours where I feared I had an expensive bricked keyboard on my hands.
