… but I’m not sure how to use these instructions or where to type the commands they have given. I’m not a programmer, but will be able to follow instructions if someone is able to help me with this.
Good morning, wherahiko.
We chatted previously regarding TypeMatrix 2030 and “outermost thumb keys” so I’m not going to repeat those replies.
My first question now is does Miryoku even support the Atreus keyboard? Miry appears to be written for a 36 key keyboard, Atreus has 44 keys. It doesn’t appear to mirror the layer shift keys … maybe they only lock to layers, no shift while held is available. And there is only 6 layer keys; Atreus has 8 (I only use 5 myself).
If you actually flashed your board with M and Dv, would the keys get assigned as you would like them? Do you plan to only use 36 keys and ignore the ‘outers’?
You’re in experimental territory here and there may not be anyone on Discord who has tried this who can assist you.
Personally I couldn’t live without 44; see my layout in previous post.
However when I got my Atreus and first turned on Chrysalis, I decided immediately to just program each key individually. It ‘only’ took about ~100+ changes before I was mostly satisfied; I’ve only made a few minor changes in the last 3 years of my 5+ years of Atreus.
YMMV
Good Luck!
Stu
ps: you can reach more users if you post your questions on Discord!
Thank you for your reply (and apologies for the slow response).
Miryoku is supposed to work on the Atreus (according to the Miryoku documentation); it just leaves the extra thumb keys unassigned. This is what I want, as I find the outer thumb keys hard to reach. (For Dvorak, it should also swap the ;: and the /?keys.
I’ll have a go posting on Discord as well - hopefully someone there will be able to help. Thank you for the suggestion.
I am also interested on this, since I have an M100 (the beauty and the beast, together) I use Dvorak (Spanish) since 2010, and want also to try the Miryoku layout.
Yes, many keys will go unused, but I can live with that.
I was planning to do it all in Chrysalis by hand, since there seems to be no way to use the other key managers in the M100 (as per the Miryoku documentation) because of the processor it uses.
Am I right with this?
As always, thank you very much for sharing time and knowledge (and passion).
I’ve solved this now with the help of a very kind member of the Keyboardio Discord community. Yabi Wang created a .hex file and sent some instructions for flashing the Atreus with the layout. If you search Discord under my username (wherahiko), you should find it. If you have any trouble, let me know.
It’s for standard Dvorak, rather than the Spanish one (I think you mean the one that swaps R and H, and has a special Ñ key?). But it should be possible to make a Spanish version with QMK. I’m not sure how, but am interested too (since I am learning Spanish).
Dear @wherahiko
Regarding the Dvorak version, yes, the Spanish has an “Ñ” that we use, but I can’t say anything about swapped letters without comparing it with the English version: this is how I know it since forever…
Anyway, going to the flashing, is that hex file specific for Atreus? I understand that it has a different processor that the M100 and this is what makes it impossible to use QMK…
