Hardware Hacking: where to start?

Hi,

I’m a software engineer interested in hardware hacking but I’m a complete newbie, I’ve tried arduino and similar things but i find them too simple ( just basic automations), I’ve tried to study a bit about electronic circuits but i found them too theoretical. I would love to skip them to do more complex things, such as being able to design for specific chips, design PCBs, etc… but i don’t know how can I do that jump?Where should I start? any resources?

Please help.

I didn’t find the right solution from the Internet.

Thanks!

Have a look at adafruit. They have a lot of kits and tutorials, including interfacing Arduino with the outside world (i.e. electronics). There are also boards based on other processors, etc.
