Mac Recovery Mode

I needed to boot my old iMac into Recovery Mode last night, and I couldn’t get it to work with either my Model 01 or my Atreus. (And I was surprised to realize that other than those two keyboards, a home-built Atreus with unknown firmware, and a half-disassembled Planck, I have no other keyboards in the house.)

I couldn’t get the Mac to recognize the Cmd-R on booting. I tried it with both keyboards on two different Macs (an 8yo iMac and a 2yo Macbook Air), and it didn’t work with either of them.

I ended up fixing the problem by making a bootable USB and using that, but it would be very useful to be able to do this with just the keyboard.

Has anyone else seen this? Is this expected?

Thanks,

George

It’s not expected, but it’s a known issue. We’re working on fixing it, but it might take a little while.

Good to know that you’re aware of it.

Thanks for the response.

George

For the record, we believe that this is the same issue as the keyboard not working in UEFI/BIOS, so that’s the issue to subscribe to, if you want to track progress.

Subbed!
Thanks,
George
