Holding down keys behavior

Over the last few months, I’ve noticed ways that my M01 behaves when I hold down certain keys, and it does not always conform to my expectations. For reference, I am using Mac OS, and I have updated my M01 firmware. When I use the Function layer to volume up/down, unlike on an Apple keyboard, I can’t hold the key down to move the volume multiple tics. Thankfully, my arrow keys behave the way that I would expect most of the time, but I’ve also experienced some weird behavior when my arrow keys don’t seem to respond to being held (e.g., in a word processor the “Right arrow” should move the cursor more than one letter when it is held). When this starts happening, I unplug my keyboard and plug it back in, and the unexpected behavior goes away.

Three questions:

  1. What controls the behavior of held keys? Is the OS interpreting this, or the keyboard?
  2. Is there any way to change this for special keys like the volume? It’s not a huge annoyance, but it takes a lot of key presses to go up and down.
  3. Any idea why my arrow keys occasionally do the wrong thing? This has maybe happened 3-4 times in several months, so this is not something that has caused a great deal of angst. What I have tried is instead of plugging into a USB port on my external monitor, I’ve been plugging directly into my laptop. I haven’t had this happen since, but I don’t know if it is related.

Thanks in advance for any responses.

I know the holding Volume keys not working was something in the Consumer keys behaviour. You might need to try updating your firmware – I know that holding down volume keys works for me now on macOS; it might also address your arrow key issues too?
