*: No way of knowing if I’m the first. I bet Jesse has a low profile prototype somewhere
**: Not actually low-profile, but medium profile.
After my Model01s dying and restarting the search for a ergonomic keyboard for the next 10 years, I ended up with a Model 100 (which arrived today). However, I did find that I prefer low-profile switches over the normal profiles of MX switches (and lower actuation force).
There currently are 2 key switches that have the same (5 pin) MX pins as normal MX switches:
Tecsee Pudding Medium
Outemu MX Low-Profile
So when I ordered my Model 100 I took the plunge and also ordered 70 Tecsee Pudding Medium switches. And they are indeed MX pin compatabli and they work!
I really like the feel of these, it is noticeably easier to type.
I did a test with some lowprofile switches on the metal plate from my m100 and really liked how it felt. The difference was very close to the one you show on your pictures. I really hope there is a m1001 or something that is lowprofile. I don’t know if I can dream with one with concave keywells too but who knows.
Where did you get the switches? I would like to try them too
I also found these ones. Have you seen them ? I’m not sure if they would work as well but I 'm happy there might be more lowprofile switches that could work on the m100
I have! They are hit or miss because the center pole is thicker:
Important to note that while KS-33B fit standard MX sockets, they have a 4.5mm center pole. They won’t fit existing MX PCBs unless the design also supported other low profile switches with larger center holes like Choc v2 or KS-33.
I believe Outemu is the other brand that makes mx pin compatible low switches, I believe it’s these: Ik heb dit zojuist gevonden op AliExpress: €4,69 | OUTEMU GTMX Low Profile Switch Zwart Rood Blauw Bruin 3Pin Super Dun Voor Mechanisch Toetsenbord Hot swap Kit Schakelaars Tactile Lineair https://a.aliexpress.com/_EzLQVHQ
